You may not know, faithful reader, that I have an extreme fear of throwing up. I’m not talking your average, “this is really going to suck” kind of fear, I’m talking, helpless fox being chased by twenty rabid hounds kind of fear.

I will do anything, absolutely ANYTHING to not throw up, including selling my soul to Satan himself, if I thought it would get me a reprieve.

Last night, I woke at midnight, extremely nausous. So, I jumped into the shower, and stood under scalding water for thirty minutes to try and distract myself. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. Also, I chugged Pepto Bismol WHILE in the shower.

Then I went back to bed. And got right back up again. Jumped in the shower again.

Got out. Still nauseous. So, I said to myself, “Self. You will not throw up. And if you do, it will be outside.”

Obviously, I was out of my head at this point. I went out in twenty degree temperatures, my hair sopping wet, and went on a half an hour walk to keep it all in.

On my walk, I ran into a coyote. No, I was not hallucinating. I’m just that lucky.

Nothing happened, thank GOD, because all I need is a rabies vaccination, right?

Anyhoo, I did manage to not throw up, and get three hours of sleep before work. Success!

So, if you’ve been paying attention, you’ll know that I am obssessed an avid reader of romance novels. Especially romances that takes place in Scotland. (This blog is called Highland Heather for a reason people.)

I can’t write about those romances without mentioning the most loved author in this genre (though she doesn’t really fit in the romance genre), Diana Gabaldon and her Outlander Series.

I. Love. These. Books.

a) They are not cheesy. b) The hero is younger than the heroine and a virgin on their wedding night – HELLO. How awesome is that? That is just NOT DONE in the Romance genre. c) The author has plenty of love play once these two love birds get together and it is fantastic. And to my immense relief, not once does she describe an orgasm as exploding into a million stars.

Prepare yourself though, there are about twenty almost rape/this-really-is-rape scenes. Apparently this is all people did back then lol. But it furthers the plot, and provides for some very entertaining I-am-your-husband-and-I-own-you sex scenes. Big fan of those.

I have a confession to make too. I love these books because they are sorta naughty. And not just because the sex scenes are so hot actual steam rises off the pages.

I love them because when I read them, I can gleefully lock my inner feminist inside a deep dark dungeon (because lets face it, she’s not very much fun) where I can’t hear her petulant whining about “equality” and “rights”. And I can guiltlessly embrace my inner cave woman, whose screams, hell yes I am your property as long as you order me around, take all responsibility off my shoulders, and take me like the gorgeous sweaty animal you really are! Me-ow!

After reading these books, my inner cave woman is WELL satisfied, if not a little sore, and my inner feminist is getting the treatement she deserves sometimes – the cold shoulder.

This episode was top notch. I am going to highlight my favorite parts here with some photos:

When “Helo” (Tahmoh Penikett) as to shoot his cylon love Sharon so she can reincarnate on the Cylon ship in order to bring their baby Hera back to Battlestar Galactica. His scream of anguish gave me chills.

The look of longing Apollo gives Starbuck as he greets his wife, back from the planet that just got destroyed from a supernova. Guess who he really wants to be holding? STARBUCK!!!

Helo, greeting his baby Hera, back from the Cylon ship. He thought she was dead until recently. He looks so sweet here, holding her up and then giving her kisses. Just a fantastic and genuine moment.

Its snowing outside!! Weee!!

So, I saw The Queen this weekend too, and it was FANTASTIC. If Helen Mirren doesn’t win the Oscar, I will eat my shorts.

This is one of the best movies I’ve seen this year. I admired The Queen’s decision to grieve privately, even though it was necessary in the end for her to make a public statement about Diana’s death.

Prince Charles was portrayed as a bit of an idiot in this movie. He was terrified the entire time that he would be shot, because the people were so angry over Diana’s death and the Royal Family’s lack of public response to it.

Michael Sheen did a fantastic job as Tony Blair. I believe he should have been nominated for awards too. He was earnest, vulnerable at times, furious at others – in all, a very well rounded, fantastic job.

I saw The Hitcher this past weekend, and it was decent for a slasher flick. Sophia Bush did a great job as the victim, without being a victim. She was bad ass in the end.

Sean Bean was excellent, as he is in everything. I admit I totally rooted for him in this movie, even though he’s the bad guy. Cause hello? He’s totally hot.

And I have a thing for bad boys. I always root for them instead of the good guys. But only if they’re hot.

I have standards people.

So, this morning I almost had a heart attack. I got into the office, and began checking my e-mail.

Now, all of the office’s faxes come to my e-mail inbox. I look at them quickly, and forward them.

Today, I got a resume from a woman who was applying for MY job.

This is not a moment I would wish on anyone else. Because then I had to ask myself – did my boss ask for this? Am I getting FIRED?!

And then, the awkwardness of being forced to forward a resume someone sent for MY job, to MY boss.

That’s a nice moment people. REAL NICE.
